Ghost Image After Glow

In tegenstelling tot waar de zeefdruk doorgaans voor wordt ingezet (als reproductietechniek) zet Uilenbroek het juist in vanuit zijn schilderopvatting. In de serie Ghost Image After Glow gebruikt hij de zeef zélf als drager. Restanten zeefdruk-inkt - spookbeelden - die normaliter schoongemaakt worden, laat hij een hoofdrol spelen in het werk. Beide dragers gaan een relatie aan en vormen een driedimensionaal geheel. Het werk is een verwijzing naar de geest, een gedachte en de ziel.

De zeef heeft een diffuse werking op het licht en de kleur van de achtergrond. Het beeld lijkt off-focus. Er zit letterlijk ruimte tussen de zeef en het paneel. Het spel tussen het kader en het geestbeeld geeft een optische werking, waardoor het oog steeds moet scherpstellen.

In contrast to what screen printing is usually used for (as a reproduction technique), Uilenbroek uses it from his painting perspective. In the series Ghost Image After Glow he uses the mesh itself as a carrier. He allows remnants of screen printing ink - ghost images - that are normally cleaned to play a leading role in the work. Both wearers enter into a relationship and form a three-dimensional whole. The work is a reference to the spirit, a thought and the soul.

The mesh has a diffuse effect on the light and the color of the background. The image appears off-focus. There is literally space between the screen and the panel. The interplay between the frame and the ghost image produces an optical effect, forcing the eye to continually focus.
